Our Tar Sands Campaign

We demand that RBC (Canada’s largest, most profitable bank, with a trillion dollars in assets) give up its role as the main financier of tar sands operations. The world’s dirtiest oil comes from Alberta tar sands projects, which are intensifying climate change, devastating Boreal forests, poisoning First Nations communities in the region, and wasting huge amounts of energy and water.

Our “Chemical Valley” Oil Pipeline Campaign

We have been raising issues around Sarnia-Lambton’s Chemical Valley industries.

We’ve started to address local pipeline spill risks, through awareness-raising and community research. We are particularly concerned about how the Enbridge Trailbreaker project may bring dirtier tar sands bitumen across the Thames River. Enbridge and Exxon pipelines already cross this river, and a spill could flow through our city. Enbridge’s pipeline also endangers local farmlands and townships.

We invite you to join us in responding to these issues.
