The Ottawa firebombing

October 6th, 2010

On May 18th, an Ottawa, Ontario RBC bank branch was firebombed.  The arsonists released a statement about native issues, and the Alberta tar sands.

Although our climate justice group has focused on RBC tar sands financing, as well as related native issues, we have never employed sabotage tactics of any kind — let alone dangerous sabotage, like a firebombing.

One of our members has co-written a response to the RBC firebombing.

Another of our members has criticized the firebombing in brief remarks posted here. The first of Toban’s two comments is titled “Wider implications”, and it was posted on 20.05.2010 – 13:29.

Here is some additional analysis — in a write-up from a Toronto activist.
